Central Florida Animal Reserve - Volunteer Chronicles
These chronicles serve as a means to inform the public about the Central Florida Animal Reserve -- its mission, residents, volunteers, operations, and need for relocation and donations. And, speaking of donations, the Nduna foundation has generously offered to match up to $5000.00 generated during the blog's first three months.

CFAR Presents the Keeper for a Day program
What is a "Keeper for a Day"?
Participants will work with our "Keeper" hosts to clean enclosures, prepare diets, fill buckets, and provide enrichment for the animals. How Much Does it Cost?
$250 for CFAR Members / $300 for non-membersWhen Can I Participate?
The program is available on Sundays from 10:00 am - 1:00 pmCan My Whole Family Participate?
There can be up to 3 participants on any given day. (Participants must be 16 years of age and, if under 18, you must be accompanied by a paying adult)How do I Sign Up?
Reservations can be made by calling Kelley (407-719-4368). The participants will receive instructions on how to make a payment through PayPal’s charitable donation website and be able to arrange a date for their program. Can we bring a camera?
YES! Participants are encouraged to bring their cameras to record the day. We will also provide some photo ops along the way. Will food or drink be provided?
We will be providing our guests with bottled water, but no food will be allowed on property. We are encouraging participants to eat a good breakfast before arriving. Will I get a chance to touch a tiger?
Participants will be required to follow the same rules as our guests on Member Days (keeping 2-3 feet away from ay tiger containing enclosures). However, we will be providing opportunities to interact with the animals through enrichments (hiding food, rolling a ball outside the enclosure, palm frond fun, etc.).Will you have souvenirs for sale?
At the end of the program, participants will each receive a souvenir KFAD t-shirt.
What is the difference between this experience and a tour on Member Day?
Besides the fact that there will be no white barricades, this is a hands-on look at what it takes to care for the animals and facility. Participants will have the chance to actually help with shifting (new people are great attention-grabbers!), food placement, filling buckets/tubs, and cleaning the enclosure.
